Biography

Sweta Balchandani is currently working as a post-doctoral research associate in System Assessment Center at Argonne National Laboratory. She is involved with Technoeconomic Analysis (TEA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) aspects of novel bioprocesses aimed at utilization of waste sources along with future contribution towards the development of new modules in the GREET model of ANL. Prior to ANL, she was associated with University of Arizona, Tucson where, as a Chemical Engineer, Sweta has been integrating TEA and LCA along with the fundamentals of chemical process simulations while working with Critical Material Institute (CMI) for production of bioleaching agents for extraction of rare earth elements in collaboration with Idaho National Laboratory. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam, India with major work focus on carbon dioxide capture using blended ionic liquid and amine solvents. Modeling, simulation, and optimization using various software approaches are her major interests. Studying diverse projects using wet lab or simulations have been an integral part of her research career.  She has published her work in renowned journals and conferences.
