Tanju Sofu is senior leadership team member of DOE’s Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling & Simulation (NEAMS) program.

Biography

Tanju Sofu is a senior leadership team member of DOE’s Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling & Simulation (NEAMS) program. His responsibilities include technical and programmatic guidance for multi-laboratory efforts on development of methods/tools for design and analysis of innovative nuclear reactor concepts. He also coordinates the contributions in the methods, modeling and validation” technical area under DOE’s Fast Reactor R&D Program, and manages some of Argonne’s key industry collaborations.

He joined Argonne in 1992 as a postdoctoral appointee after receiving his degree in nuclear engineering from University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Earlier in his career, he technically contributed to various computational physics and fluid dynamics related methods development and validation projects. He currently serves as a U.S. representative to OECD/NEA’s Generation-IV International Forum (GIF) Risk and Safety Working Group.
