Biography
Physicist with the Detectors Group, X-ray Science Division (XSD-DET) at the Advanced Photon Source.
Activities
Tejas supports Detectors Group activities, including R&D on new detector technologies and testing & commissioning new detectors for the Detector Pool.
Experience
His background is in theoretical, computational, and experimental work on new detector technologies, with a focus on quantum-sensing superconducting devices. These devices offer orders of magnitude improvements in sensitivity and energy resolution compared to traditional semiconductor-based technologies. He completed his PhD work at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge (UK), on nonequilibrium quasiparticle and phonon behavior in superconducting thin films, such as the superconducting microwave resonators used in broadband photon detectors and quantum computing readout. His work has also been applied in the design of millimeter-wave and THz detectors for astronomy.
Focus Areas
Areas of interest include superconducting device design and modelling; advanced detector data analysis and processing methods including applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence; and detector readout hardware and software.
