Zelimir Djurcic

Physicist

Zelimir Djurcic is an experimental physicist with research interests in particle physics beyond the Standard Model.

Biography

Zelimir Djurcic is an experimental physicist with research interests in particle physics beyond the Standard Model. He is currently focused on measurements of the mass and other properties of neutrinos that may have profound consequences for understanding the evolution of the universe. He participates in research and development of particle physics detectors, leads various relevant data analyses, writes proposals, collaborates with senior colleagues, postdocs, and students. He is a presenter of invited talks at various workshops and conferences, reviewer of proposals, reviewer of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and is an advisor to students and postdocs.

Research Interests

  • Neutrino Physics: measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters, studies of CP-violation with neutrinos, neutrino-less double-beta decay experiments, absolute neutrino mass measurements, solar neutrino physics, sterile neutrinos, neutrino phenomenology, neutrino interaction cross-sections.

  • Non-neutrino tests of Standard Model: proton decay.

  • Astrophysics: relic neutrinos, dark matter searches.

  • New Techniques: investigation of novel detector types, materials and techniques in particle physics, modeling and beam tests of new detectors.

Education

  • Ph.D., University of Alabama, 2004
