EVs@Scale Lab Consortium Semi-Annual Stakeholder Meeting

The meeting will be an opportunity to identify research and development opportunities to accelerate at-scale electric vehicle grid integration and enabling technologies.

The third EVs@Scale Lab Consortium Semi-Annual Stakeholder Meeting is an event being hosted Sept. 27-28, 2023 at Argonne National Laboratory’s campus in Lemont, Illinois. These meetings convene stakeholders across government, academia, and industry to identify research and development (R&D) opportunities to accelerate at-scale electric vehicle (EV) grid integration and enabling technologies.

Discussions will cover topics in vehicle grid integration and smart charge management, high-power charging, wireless charging, cyber-physical security, and codes and standards.  There will be two panel discussions which will examine smart charge management and vehicle grid integration as well as codes and standards.

The objectives of this meeting are to:

  • Present perspectives, priorities, and insights from key stakeholders in the electric vehicle industry and senior representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and national laboratories on near- and long-term R&D priorities
  • Assess the status, challenges, technology gaps, and prospective R&D collaborations to electric vehicle integration with the grid at-scale
  • Identify opportunities to refine Consortium research areas and support common understanding and direction across the Consortium

About EVs@Scale Lab Consortium

With tens of millions of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty EVs projected to hit American roads by 2030, establishing a secure and scalable infrastructure is necessary to support the transition to an electric fleet. The DOE’s Electric Vehicles at Scale Lab Consortium (EVs@Scale Lab Consortium) brings together national laboratories and key stakeholders to conduct infrastructure research and development to address challenges and barriers for high-power EV charging infrastructure that enable greater safety, grid operation reliability, and consumer confidence.

The scientists, engineers, and analysts of the EVs@Scale Lab Consortium are conducting research that will spur the development of affordable, convenient, and reliable charging infrastructure for electric vehicles  to help decarbonize the U.S. transportation sector and encourage greater EV consumer adoption rates. Transitioning to a nationwide fleet of on-road vehicles powered by electricity will bring the transportation sector closer to a zero-emission future.

Participating laboratories include the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory,  Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratory.
