Argonne energy storage research is advancing the future of electric vehicles by developing battery technologies that can increase the range, reliability and safety of electric vehicles while also reducing their cost.

Argonne National Laboratory’s Advanced Mobility Technology Laboratory (AMTL) provides state-of-the-art tools for hybrid and electric vehicle research. The AMTL enables engineers to conduct vehicle technology assessment and research activities that provide data critical to the development and commercialization of next-generation vehicles.

Argonne engineers use the AMTL’s two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) chassis dynamometers and state-of-the-art instrumentation tools to reveal important information on performance, fuel economy, energy consumption and emissions output.
