Argonne director Isaacs to receive Chicago Council on Science and Technology award
Eric Isaacs, director of Argonne National Laboratory, will speak to members of the Chicago Council on Science and Technology, which recognized him for advancing science and technology in the Chicago region.

ARGONNE, Ill. – Eric D. Isaacs, director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory, has been recognized for ​“Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Science and Technology” by the Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C2ST).

“I am very honored by this award from the Chicago Council on Science and Technology,” said Isaacs. ​“I feel fortunate to have this opportunity to work with so many great colleagues who understand the vital role that science plays in supporting and expanding the economy of our city, our state and our nation, and who are dedicated to strengthening and expanding Chicago’s science and technology community.”

He receive the award at the Adler Planetarium in downtown Chicago on Thursday, June 13, 2013, as the keynote speaker for the nonprofit group’s annual fundraising dinner.  

Isaacs spoke on the importance of working together to create a thriving innovation ecosystem in the Chicago area—one that supports current efforts to create and expand businesses based on science and technology, that offers career opportunities to recent graduates of Chicago-area universities and that draws talented people with new ideas to the region. 

C2ST is a nonprofit organization that works to educate, engage and advocate the societal significance of high-level science and technology for the greater Chicagoland area. C2ST links museums, corporations, foundations, universities, national laboratories, public officials and business communities, to foster and promote growth for the region in science and technology.
