Heterogeneity Lab-directed research and development (LDRD)

The heterogeneity project aims to create a conceptual framework and a testbed for understanding the best way to capture heterogeneity (or diverse elements) in soil moisture.

This project also helps to explain how and at what scale soil moisture is coupled to fluxes of water, carbon, and energy in the atmosphere. This project pairs Argonne and DOE-Biological and Environmental Research investigators in a strategic, cohesive effort to understand heterogeneity, which will enhance our capabilities in climate change and atmospheric science.
