The unique aspect of Argonne’s scientific glassblowing facility is the complete, full-service treatment received by its customers. This facility can help researchers from consultation and design, through fabrication, to installation in their labs.

Glass is the perfect material for modeling and research & development applications. Glass components can be fabricated within days and in some cases overnight if required so research is not held up. Researchers are able to obtain everything from specialized custom optical cells and micro-apparatus, to laboratory apparatus and vessels as large as 18” in diameter. Sample cells can incorporate tiny optical flats into the cell for a variety of laser and beam line applications. Standard and custom chemistry laboratory apparatus are also routine service for the Argonne Glassblowing Studio.
