April 2020 PSE Employees of the Month

Mike Kelly and Larry Wall are recognized as PSE Employees of the Month

The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Employees of the Month program recognizes two individuals each month—one programmatic and one operations—based on the excellence of their work and demonstration of Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

April 2020 PSE Employee of the Month – Programmatic category

  • Mike Kelly has excelled as Group Leader for Accelerator Development in Argonne’s Physics division during the lab’s recent partial shutdown, taking on additional responsibilities and motivating his team throughout this challenging time. He has diligently taken care of his facilities and people, effectively communicating and planning to ensure the safety of his staff and their ability to continue their research. Kelly’s efforts reflect all five of Argonne’s Core Values.

April 2020 PSE Employee of the Month – Operations category

  • As a programmatic systems/network administrator for PSE, Larry Wall has always been dedicated to serving PSE personnel with their computer needs. Recently, Wall has gone above and beyond by delaying his retirement to assist the lab through the challenges of suspended operations, including serving on the lab’s minimal operations support team. His selfless acts and commitment to serve display all of Argonne’s Core Values.

Each month, the PSE Associate Laboratory Director and Division Directors review PSE Employee of the Month nominations and select recipients. All Argonne employees are eligible for nomination, including people within PSE and those who work with PSE. All PSE staff, postdocs and students are welcome to submit nominations. The call for nominations opens on the first of each month.
