December 2020 PSE Employees of the Month

Diana Anderson, Pierre Darancet and Jie Xu are recognized as PSE Employees of the Month

The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Employees of the Month program recognizes individuals from two categories each month — programmatic and operations — based on the excellence of their work and demonstration of Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

December 2020 PSE Employee of the Month – Operations category

  • As Head of Communications for PSE, Diana Anderson goes above and beyond to serve the directorate’s communication needs. In particular, she was nominated for the strategic communication of Argonne’s Water + AI strategy. With proactive leadership and expertise in communication, she initiated impactful projects including the creation of a Water + AI website and newsletter. Her efforts have made a profound influence on the lab’s water efforts, and her work reflects Argonne’s Core Values of Impact and Teamwork.

December 2020 PSE Employees of the Month – Programmatic category

  • Pierre Darancet, a computational scientist, and Jie Xu, a materials science experimentalist, collaborated to initiate a new programmatic activity on autonomous solution-based processing of polymeric materials at Argonne’s Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM). They also took advantage of their different scientific backgrounds to initiate discussions in a new research area in the division, identifying a challenging scientific problem and assembling a team of scientists from across the lab.

Each month, the PSE Associate Laboratory Director and Division Directors review PSE Employees of the Month nominations and select recipients. All Argonne employees are eligible for nomination, including people within PSE and those who work with PSE. All PSE staff, postdocs and students are welcome to submit nominations. The call for nominations opens on the first of each month.
