Six PSE colleagues are recognized as PSE Employees of the Month

The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Employees of the Month program recognizes individuals based on the excellence of their work and demonstration of Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

February 2022 PSE Employees of the Month — Programmatic category

  • Jihyeon Gim from Argonne’s Chemical Sciences and Engineering (CSE) division has demonstrated outstanding initiative and expertise, leading teams for DOE’s Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO) programs and industry engagements. His expertise, leadership and professionalism have assisted his team in developing novel ideas related to cathode synthesis and design.

  • Kevin Knehr and Joseph Kubal from the CSE division developed and released the latest version of the BatPaC software, a software tool used by government agencies, policy makers and thousands of users around the world to estimate the cost of manufacturing lithium-ion batteries. Their effort included diligent teamwork and ensured broad functionality and accuracy. 

  • Kenneth Bunnell, David Novak and Daniel Stanton from the Physics division safely and successfully resolved novel issues with the Argonne Tandem Linac Accelerator System that were identified during a maintenance period. The team worked swiftly and effectively to meet the needs of users, exemplifying Argonne’s Core Values of Impact, Safety and Teamwork.

Each month, the PSE Associate Laboratory Director and Division Directors review PSE Employees of the Month nominations and select recipients. All Argonne employees are eligible for nomination, including people within PSE and those who work with PSE. All PSE staff, postdocs and students are welcome to submit nominations.
