January 2021 PSE Employees of the Month

Robin Harris and Qian Liu are recognized as PSE Employees of the Month

The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Employees of the Month program recognizes individuals from two categories each month — programmatic and operations — based on the excellence of their work and demonstration of Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

January 2021 PSE Employee of the Month — Operations category

  • Robin Harris, a PSE administrative assistant, worked with the deputy division director for Argonne’s Chemical Sciences and Engineering (CSE) division to put together a new internal policy titled Laboratory Scientific Research Notebooks Maintenance,” which is the first and only lab-wide policy implemented to properly record and manage lab notebooks. Her contributions were instrumental to the project’s success, and she will continue to assist with the project during its implementation. Her efforts display Argonne’s Core Values of Impact and Teamwork.

January 2021 PSE Employee of the Month — Programmatic Category

  • Qian Liu, an assistant chemist in CSE, is working on an industry-funded Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, specifically an Authentication and Authorization for Research and Collaboration project. Liu’s excellent performance in electrolyte development has led to the renewal of the entire project, the biggest industry-funded project at Argonne to date. Her work has also resulted in five patent applications. Liu’s efforts display Argonne’s Core Values of Impact and Teamwork.

Each month, the PSE Associate Laboratory Director and Division Directors review PSE Employees of the Month nominations and select recipients. All Argonne employees are eligible for nomination, including people within PSE and those who work with PSE. All PSE staff, postdocs and students are welcome to submit nominations. The call for nominations opens on the first of each month.
