July 2022 PSE Employees of the Month

Schikora, Reid and Peterson are recognized as July 2022 PSE Employees of the Month

The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Employees of the Month program recognizes individuals based on the excellence of their work and demonstration of Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

July 2022 PSE Employees of the Month — Operations category

  • Michelle Schikora, a Division Financial Business Partner, was responsible for creating and organizing mandatory documents for more than a dozen Chemical Sciences and Engineering (CSE) proposals in response to a recent funding opportunity announcement. There was a short time window to create partner teams, develop workplans and supply the supporting documents. Michelle worked tirelessly during this time period, and especially throughout the final night to guarantee that all the CSE proposal teams had their documents by the deadline. Her work during this process demonstrated the Core Values of Impact and Teamwork.

July 2022 PSE Employees of the Month — Programmatic category

  • Tom Reid and Troy Peterson, Engineers within the Physics division, contributed enormously to the year-long effort to refurbish the Argonne Tandem Linac Accelerator System (ATLAS) G-cryostat. They showed uncommon perseverance and a commitment to completion of the effort by leading the reconnection of G-tank to the ATLAS beamline. Due in large part to their skill and determination, G-cryostat was successfully reconnected to ATLAS in time to deliver beam to users before the mid-July deadline. Tom and Troy have been leaders in the achievement of this significant milestone for the division.  Without their expertise and effort, this would not have been successful.

Each month, the PSE Associate Laboratory Director and Division Directors review PSE Employees of the Month nominations and select recipients. All Argonne employees are eligible for nomination, including people within PSE and those who work with PSE. All PSE staff, postdocs and students are welcome to submit nominations.
