RF Generation

The electron bunches can generate short pulses of intense RF power when they traverse wakefield structures.

Dielectric and metallic structures of various types have been used to generate up to hundreds of MW at frequencies spanning from 7.8 to 91 GHz. These RF pulses can have durations of a few ns, in case of excitation by single bunches, or they can last over 20 ns when driven by electron bunch trains.
