23rd Annual Argonne Undergraduate Symposium

On Friday, November 1, 2013 Argonne National Laboratory hosted the 23rd Annual Undergraduate Symposium.

Dr. Mark Peters opened the conference by welcoming over 250 undergraduates from all over the mid-west and Dr. Mary Anne Yates kick off the conference with an inspiring keynote entitled Adventures of a Nuclear Chemist”.  Throughout the day, conferences goers had over 100 student research presentations ranging across all science disciplines to hear; tours of Argonne’s Advanced Photon Source and Argonne’s Tandem Linac Accelerator System to see; demonstrations in super conductivity and acoustics of musical instruments to experience; and opportunities to connect with Argonne staff and researchers. The end closed with an energetic panel of our own Dr. Erin Thomas, Dr. Laura Zamboni and Mr. Jarrad Hampton-Marcell discussing the role of mentoring across the multiple stages of a career. Thank you to all the participated in such a successful event.
