Improving Nuclear Data Across the Nuclear Chart

Heavy Ion Discussion Group - 23 September 2022

Stephanie Lyons, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Nuclear data needs span the nuclear chart from stable isotopes to those that live for a fraction of second. At Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, we are leveraging our diverse range of research to further improve nuclear data for a variety of national security and basic science needs. I will present a wide variety of laboratory capabilities that have been developed over the several years and discuss how we employ them to increase the accuracy and confidence of nuclear data for isotopes near stability.  Working across the nuclear chart, I will also discuss our experimental plans to improve short-lived fission product yields using our 14 MeV neutron generator and cyclic irradiation system. Finally, I will discuss how b-decay measurements at rare-isotope facilities are bridging the gap between experiment and theory.
