American Physical Society Division of Nuclear Physics Allies Program

The American Physical Society (APS) has a Code of Conduct (CoC) for APS Meetings. At the moment the APS’s Committee on Ethics is working to establish procedures for addressing complaints of CoC violations. At about the same time the CoC was created, the Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP) established something called the DNP Allies Program.  The motivation for this was when it was brought to the attention of the 2016 DNP Executive Committee that some undergraduates attending our meetings (which they do in large numbers, under the APS Conference Experience for Undergraduates Program) were being harassed by DNP members.  In response, the DNP Executive Committee established an ad-hoc Committee on Harassment Prevention.  That Committee established the DNP Allies.  I will talk about the Allies Program, how it works, how it is being expanded, and how what we have learned can be applied to other organizations.
