The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Employees of the Month program recognizes individuals from two categories each month —programmatic and operations — based on the excellence of their work and demonstration of Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

October 2020 PSE Employee of the Month – Operations category

• As Executive Assistant for PSE’s Chemical Sciences and Engineering division (CSE), Ann Bertling has provided instrumental support for the launch of several career development and mentoring programs within CSE. She has facilitated ongoing meetings with participants while accommodating their schedules, and she learned new applications to create complex surveys. Her efforts demonstrate Argonne’s Core Values of Impact, Respect and Teamwork.

October 2020 PSE Employee of the Month – Programmatic category

• Walter Reviol and Darek Seweryniak, scientists in Argonne’s Physics division, successfully completed a campaign at the Argonne Tandem Linac Accelerator System (ATLAS) with the facility’s GAMMASPHERE and Frequent Mass Analyzer over the course of 10 weeks. They conducted six experiments involving intricate arrays of specialized detectors and their data acquisition systems. The efforts were in concert with many outside users, requiring remote coordination of experiments and data collection.

Each month, the PSE Associate Laboratory Director and Division Directors review PSE Employees of the Month nominations and select recipients. All Argonne employees are eligible for nomination, including people within PSE and those who work with PSE. All PSE staff, postdocs and students are welcome to submit nominations. The call for nominations opens on the first of each month.
