One of the objectives of CATS is to carry out target related R&D activities dedicated to novel production techniques as well as the optimization of existing ones. New, additional laboratory space has been outfitted so as to not interfere with the existing target fabrication facility. Within this additional space, much of the current R&D equipment and activities could be immediately relocated and these opportunities resurrected, with room for future projects as well. This laboratory space was quickly populated with equipment, both procured and available as excess.
